Baby Lips

Whenever there is a wafting of a new product in the air, my nose takes me straight to the source and I somehow always seem to be incapable of walking out of a drugstore empty handed, at least I'm consistent.

The latest offering from Maybelline that had everyone's tongues wagging was their new range of lip balms. A lip balm, doesn't sound all that ground-breaking does it? But oh boy, these have proven to be popular, when I finally made my way to a store, there were only these 3 colours left, so naturally I picked up one of each, not wanting to miss out. I did have my eye on the peach shade but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I'm a sucker for marketing and so picked these up on a whim and had no real expectations at all so I'm pleased to announce (yes, this is an actual declaration, if I had a box to stand, I would) that I really like these lip sticks.

From left we have; Pink Punch, Hydrate and Cherry Me.

The Hydrate formula is clear in colour and is a little 'meh' but handy to have with you on the go for quick and clean lip moisturising, no wiping your finger on your sleeves post-application like a potted balm, you know what I'm talking about.

The coloured balms is where we're talking, both pack a good amount of colour pay-off and Cherry Me is my personal favourite for a wash of rosey lips without the fuss and commitment of a red lip.

I don't find these to be great for hydrating as they sit on top of the lips and don't do a hell of a lot other than look pretty, but sometimes that's what make-up is. It is another stash of balms to add to my collection and I hear whisperings of a neon range coming out? Sign me up!

Have you tried these? Do I need to try the peach shade?

  1. Helpful tip: Don't waste your time with the neons when they come out. They're not as hot as the original line of Baby Lips, unfortunately. I do LOVE the Baby Lips though. The peppermint one was my savior this time last year and I went through two tubes of it and working on my third! I've never tried any of the other shades because I've heard the hydrating one is just meh, but I'm with you on wanting to try the peach one. Sounds like it'd taste yummy!!
